Are you a minor yourself or do you have underage children who would like to stay until the end of a longer event? Then the parental authorisation form, also known as a parent's note, is just the thing. We have compiled the most important information for you here and provided a template for you to print out.
The Youth Protection Act stipulates that young people under the age of 18 may only be at events without a parent or guardian until a certain time. In JuSchG §1 Para. 1, No. 4, it is regulated by law that the Muttizettel can help with this.
What is a parental authorisation or Muttizettel?
The Muttizettel is a simple document with which it is agreed how long a minor may stay at an evening event under the supervision of a person of legal age (not the parents). This person with parental authority can be, for example, the teen or youth leader, a family member (older siblings) or even their own friends (over 18 years old).
Until when are children allowed to go out?
Without a supervisor:
- Children under the age of 14 may go out until 10 p.m.
- Young people under the age of 16 may go out until midnight
With a parent's permission slip, parents can freely decide until when their children may go out.
Information for parents
As parents, a parent's permission slip gives you the opportunity to offer your children more freedom in accordance with the law. It is best if children and parents fill out the parenting authorisation together so that no misunderstandings arise or questions remain unanswered in the evening. It should also be clarified exactly who will be responsible for supervising the underage child during this period before filling it out.
Please note:
- the parent or guardian must be of legal age
- the parent or guardian must be aware of their role and be able to fulfil it
- the parent or guardian must be present at all times during the event and be the point of contact at all times
Mutiny note template
You can download and print out our template in the file manager section below. The underage child should always carry the Muttizettel with them during the event. The document contains all important information about the event, the parents' details and the contact details of the person responsible for the child's education. The parenting authorisation is only issued for one event and for a certain period of time.
Please note: As soon as you are named on the parenting authorisation form and have signed it, you can be held responsible for any damage or accidents that occur during this period.
